The Inaugural St Albans Bowl-off, 2006/07

The inaugural St Albans bowl-off took place between November 2006 and January 2007 with Premier women's player Erin Bermingham emerging as the ultimate champion ahead of 33 other contestants.

Erin was the last name drawn out of the hat at the beginning of the competition but happily went on to defy the predictions that spin bowlers wouldn't prosper in this type of competition. She won five matches in a row, including surviving three successive sudden-death bowl-offs in the second round, quarter-final and semi-final stages.

Keeping pride of place on Erin's mantelpiece for the next year will be the Johnstone-Bermingham Trophy, named after the two most demanding net bowlers in St Albans Cricket Club history (although now it can be fairly argued as to which Bermingham it really refers to).

* Due to the absence of Richard Davidson and Lea Tahuhu at the time the second round bowl-offs were held, a "lucky losers" redraw was done and Luke Piper and Stephen Cunis (respectively) took their places.
